MifareClassic and ARM core

Hi all,

I'm developing my application with TRF7970A and the CC1352. Unfortunately, I discovered that the Mifare Classic is not supported by the TRF7970A, so I found your example in sloa214.zip.

But.... there is a library (MifareCryptoLibrary.lib) that is pre-compiled for MSP430, and it doesen't work with ARM Cortex - M4.

Could you provide the source code.. or a libraries supported in ARM MCUs?

I had figured this would be very straightforward, but I couldn't find a base project for the library so I just made a new one to do the compilation. Please let me know if this works, I am pretty sure I grabbed all the right files: MifareCryptoLibrary.lib

I think that your library is working, but now I figured out that the SPI counication with SPI_transfer is too slow. Indeed, it requires almost 30us to send a byte at 2Mbps.

Following the sloa214.pdf the CC1352 cannot stisfy the minimum switch time between DM TX and DM receive. It is really unfair, also because the MSP430 used in TI example works at 8MHz, and the CC1352 is a 40MHz Cortex-M...

Do you have any suggestion?

Unfortunately I am not experienced with that MCU at all, so I really haven't a clue. Maybe you can ask on the device forum for that part to get advice on how to handle the SPI signaling better.

Dear Ralph,

I'm trying your library since 8 July, but somthing desn't work yet. I was able to read the card content a couple of times, but I receive many nonsense bytes reading the Mifare Classic card, but in all these cases the parity bit and the CRC were correct.

I found that the original library was built for MSP430, which has a 16bit MCU. In the example you use int and uint16_t with the same dimension, but with the Cortex-M4 I had to correct alla these issues.

Maybe this is still present in the Crypto library that you compiled.

Hello Tommaso,

Everything there is an unsigned char, if those aren't causing any problems then the library should be fine.

MIFARE Classic operation is very timing dependent so you should check the signals carefully against what is shown in the app note to make sure the correct sequence is being followed and that the sampling periods are correct.

Here is a capture of a MIFARE Classic tag read taken with a Saleae logic analyzer. You can view it using the Saleae Logic software from their website.
