CC8520: CC8520 - communication range issue

Dear TI expert,

We are developing a wireless microphone product based on TI wireless headset reference design which is built on CC8520+CC2592 respectively. The solution has managed to achieve a communication distance over 30M in open area environment. However, we noticed that range performance drops significantly to about 5 meter under moderate interference where both WIFI and Bluetooth exist within the testing environment. The wireless headset product is configured to operate at standalone mode - no host MCU is attached to CC8520. Could you please advise if there is any system parameters which I can play with in order to enhance the communication range?

As you can see from http://www.ti.com/tool/rf-range-estimator the range will be limited when the noise in the used channel/ center frequency is high. If possible you should select a different channel that Bluetooth/ WiFi operate on. The used channel is the only parameter I know of that could improve the performance.

Hi Ter,

Thanks for the information. For the range estimator, I couldn't locate CC8520 from "Select Chip and datarate" drop down box,. Which device should I select for range estimation?

For this you can select any chip that operate on 2.4 Ghz and offer a high datarate (the most important is that the sensitivity is similar). This is just to show the effect of noise in the channel so the exact chip does not matter.
