Hi,

I am adapting the LAUNCHXL-CC1352P RF design for a custom board I am working on. I have duplicated the design, but am dropping the section that leads to the PCB trace antenna and instead connecting the antenna J7 via the C483 capacitor. I will be using an I-PEX 50 ohm connector + adhesive antenna. Please see design below:

Could you please guide me on how I can determine correct value for the C483 capacitor?

Hi,

You can use 47pF for C483.

I also recommend to put a PI network ( Antenna matching) as a place holder in between C483 and the connector J7. This PI network can be used for Antenna matching, if it requires.

Thanks for getting back to me, and including the application note PDF.

I read the document, and it appears Pi network placeholders are recommended for a single band antenna setup. For dual-band, the LC, CL network is recommended (which will be my setup). Question is, would LC, CL placeholder depicted below work ok should I wish to fallback to a single band antenna?

Hi,

Yes, you can use LC, CL place holder, if you are using Dual-band.

Thanks for confirming, would LC, CL also work ok if I decide to switch to a simple single-band antenna?

Yes.

If you have a doubt then you can add one more shunt Element (DNP) as a place holder in between J1 and Z104. Then you have both PI network and LC, CL network.
