cc2530 Button2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, CC2530EM

I've just got a cc2530 zigbee development kit to work on for a school project. I'm trying to use button 2 on both the EB and The BB. However I couldn't find which port and pin button2 connects to in SoC. For example it's Port0, pin1 for button1. Could you please help me with the port and pin and is it directly connected on both EB and BB?

Thanks,

Samer

  • Hi,

The information you are looking can be found in the "CC2530 Zigbee Development Kit User's Guide" found at http://www.ti.com/lit/swru209.

For SRF05EB, button 2 should map to CC2530 P0, pin5 on the CC2530EM. Note that a jumper must be mounted between P10, pins 19-20 on SRF05EB.

For the battery board (BB), button 2 is connected to EM connector P2, pin 16 (signal name EM_P2_16). This pin is however not connected to an I/O pin on the CC2530EM. You can manually map the BB board's button 2 (EM_P2_16) to an I/O pin on the CC2530 by connecting pins on I/O headers P4 and P5 (on the BB). Eg., mapping the BB's button 2 (BB signal name EM_P2_16) to CC2530 P0, pin 5 (BB signal name EM_P2_18)  would mean connecting BB board I/O header P4, pin 15 and I/O header P5, pin 16 (see page 40 of the aforementioned document).

    Hope this helps!

  • I have a similar problem, I can't get button2 to work. I have the P10 19-20 jumper in and am reading the schematics in SWRU210A. It seems to me that button 2 (IO_BUTTON2 on the user interface) goes to EM_BUTTON2, across the P10 jumper. OK, then this appears to go to SMD socket P6 pin 16. However in the scematics of the EM board, it appears that pin 18 goes to P0_5, not pin 16. I can see how button 1 is correctly routed to P0_1 in these diagrams, but button2 seems to be unconnected.

Or am I reading this wrong???

  • btw, the EM board schematics came from the swrc144a.zip package.

  • Hi David,

You are correct, there is no direct connection from SmartRF05EB's EM_BUTTON2 to a GPIO pin on the CC2530EM. If you want IO_BUTTON2 to be available to the CC2530EM, you can strap IO_BUTTON2 (05EB P10.20) to any IO pin on the CC2530 available through the EM connectors (EM P1 and P2). E.g. you can remove the P10.1-2 jumper (EM_JOY_MOVE)  and strap a cable from P10.1 to P10.20 (all  on SmartRF05EB). This would render IO_BUTTON2 available to the CC2530 on P2.0.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
