Query regarding TRF7960

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF7960

Hi Team,

one of my customer using TRF7960.

can we  use  TRF7960 to read/write the DESFire cards?

If Possible request you to arrange the sample firmware code for interfacing DESFire cards using TRF7960.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Amit Mane

  • Hi Amit,

Yes, the TRF7960 can be used to read/write DESfire cards, but we do not have example firmware for these specific cards.

DESFIRE is based on the ISO14443A standard which is supported by the TRF7960.  Our example firmware operates up to layer 3.  As different cards will have a different implementation of layer 4, this should be implemented in the customers firmware.  DESFIRE is based on 3DES encryption.  See the attached presentation for an overview of ISO 14443A/B and the different layers.

Let me know if you have questions.

    Best Regards,

    Eddie LaCost

    Hi Eddie,

    Thanks for the information.

Can we share firmware till layer 3 to customer? If yes please mail me the firmware code.

Let me know also if NDA  required for sharing code with the customer.

They are using MF3ICD8101 and MF3ICD40 in their application.

    Best Regards,

  • Amit,

These are layer 4 commands.  This needs to be implemented by the customer.  We also have third party consultants who could offer such firmware.  Let me know if your customer is interested in working with a consultant.
