RF430FRL152HEVM: RF430FRL152HEVM Power through iPhone / Pixel 3a

Part Number: RF430FRL152HEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Howdy,

I've got an RF430FRL152HEVM board that I've got programmed and working when the device is powered through the MSP-FET or USB. The unit is set to operate in Lower Power Mode 0 and uses interrupt programming to try and conserve energy.

However, when I try to power the device purely through the phone, there is no response to the handsets, both an iPhone X and Pixel 3a (that work in the above case). I've read the datasheet for the RF430FRL152HEVM and have the "Supply" DIP set to Battery and S3 set to slave.

I would really like to use this in the RF430 chipset without designing a base station, but can't tell if the excess electronics on the RF430FRL152HEVM preventing power-by-phone.

Thanks,

Austin McElroy
