Hi Team,

A customer initially intend to use CC1101 as an onboard transceiver for a cube satellite but they are considering shifting to CC25xx class of transceivers. They noticed that CC11xx series is something that has been used extensively in the past in cube satellites. Their concern is if CC2500 will be able to work in the same space conditions that CC1101 can work in?

My understanding is that CC1120 has typically been used to provide up/ down link (I found one example just searching: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swayam).

Is the plan to use CC2500 for up/ down link? If so, have they considered if they would be able to get the range required?

Hi Ter,

According to the customer, the range wouldn't be a problem in their application since they would be using an amplifier. His main concerns is if transceiver itself will function correctly in space at Low Earth Orbit altitudes.

Hi,

I would like to see a range calculation showing that CC2500 could give the wanted range. 2.4 GHz was selected for a ISM band since this is the resonance frequency for water. What will happen if the cube satellite need to communicate between a thick could coverage?
