CC2662R-Q1: max nodes in wBMS protocol.

Part Number: CC2662R-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616

Hi,

I have some questions about the wireless BMS protocol.

I watched the 2020 TI Tech Day video and downloaded slide.

training.ti.com/using-wireless-technologies-replace-cables-car-access-and-battery-management-systems-automotive

Videopdf

However, the number of nodes that can be connected between the video and the slide is different.

What is the maximum number of nodes that can be connected?

How many master nodes are supported?

I don't have the SDK so I can't check it, but the network ID seems to have 1 byte in user_config.h and I think that it can be set from 0 to 255.

Can the mac address be incremented more than 255?

  • Sy Yoon,

1 master node is supported. How many CSUs are you planning to support? 32 is the max value that we have tested but the architecture is designed to support potentially up to 100 pending a few tradeoffs. Keep in mind each CSU can supervise numerous cells using the BQ79616 as well.

I believe we are reviewing your access with the internal sales team. Once approved and you have a chance to review the documentation in the SDK, I encourage you to leverage your sales contact as any questions related to WBMS is covered by NDA and we can't support more detail oriented questions on the forum.

  • Sy Yoon,

Additionally USER_CFG_MAC_NETWORK_ADDR is a 1 byte value so it can't be incremented greater than 255.

I also believe we are already addressing these questions over email with David Park from TI Sales. Please confirm that you're working with him and in the future, please continue to drive all questions through him and not on E2E due to the sensitive nature here. Thanks!
