Hi Team,

I need to create a mesh network using CC1312: ROOT, Router and Leaf Nodes,

and I need some guidance to decide between 6LoWPAN and Wi-SUN:

- What are the major differences between Wi-SUN and 6LoWPAN?

- Can I use CC1312 with Wi-SUN for all node types?

Regarding 6LoWPAN:

- Where can I download TI CC1312 code examples for 6LoWPAN for ROOT, Router and Leaf nodes?

- Is there a specific SDK version required for 6LoWPAN?

Please provide the links for the 6LoWPAN examples downloads and the required SDK version.

Hi Dani,

The wisun stack includes a 6LoWPAN network layer. More on the wisun stack architecture is found in the wisun stack user guide found in this link.

To set up and test a wisun network, you need at least 1 border router and router nodes. To run the wisun Border router example you would need a CC1312R7 Launchpad.

Please, note that there is no leaf node example.

Hi Siddanth,

Since there is no leaf node for Wi-SUN, then I would start with the 6LoWPAN.

1. Could you please point me where can I find 6LoWPAN examples ?

2. Which SDK version should I use for 6LoWPAN development? (TI latest SDK is simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_5_30_01_01).

Hi Dani,

As I mentioned before, the 6LowPAN layer is implemented as a part of Wi-SUN stack. This 6LoWPAN layer enables the use of IPv6 services which is also a part of the stack. The Wi-SUN stack also implements other layers required to make the mesh functional. Please check the architecture of the Wi-SUN stack here.

So the Wi-SUN examples in the simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_5_30_01_01 is the recommended mesh network example.
