CC1352P7: Antenna length

Hi Sub 1 GHz team,

I have a few questions about SWRA730, related to LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-4.

In SWRA730, section 1, it refers to figure 1-1 for a 433 to 510 MHz antenna.  It recommends changing L4 to 19 mm for 868 to 930 MHz.  I believe this refers to all 3 "horizontal" lengths being shortened to 19 mm, not just the bottom one.  This works out to approximately 83 mm depending on how you measure total length, so about a 1/4 wavelength for the middle of the range.  Is that right?

In section 5.5 of the same document, is it based on an antenna with L4=19mm, like I just described?

If the customer uses 0402 components instead of 0201, what concerns or advice would you have?

    Hi Darren,

    It is just the last horizontal track that should be shortened. All the other tracks should be fixed. If you just need one frequency at 868/915 MHz, then follow DN024 app note:

    Section 5.5 has not shortened the last length of the antenna to 19 mm. The ambition with SWRA730 app note was to have one PCB structure for several different frequencies with single frequency and dual-band options.

    It is OK to change from 0402 to 0201 just as long the component position is maintained.
