To add to what Arthur has replied, Section 3 of App Note SWRA479 (Achieving Optimum Radio Range): https://www.ti.com/lit/swra479 gives more information on using the RF Range Estimator tool.

What is the reason for using the CC1352R as the transmitter rather than the CC1352P (and the CC1352R as the receiver)? Your range will benefit from the increased output power that the CC1352P high power output can provide (up to +20 dBm compared to the +14 dBm maximum output power of the CC1352R).

No this is found on the casual testing(not installed on the cow) ...we have exactly measured the air distance it was 200mtrs..

Please could you also clarify, are you using a LaunchPad for the CC1352P (the collector) or a custom design? If it is a LaunchPad, are you using the integrated PCB antenna?

Hi ...we are using the launchpad with the sub1ghz connector mounted  Antenna...

Just to check - by "the sub1ghz connector mounted  Antenna" do you mean a whip antenna connected to the SMA connector? Which CC1352P LaunchPad are you using (-1, -2, -4)?

As a first step, I would recommend programming the LPSTK-CC1352R and LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-x using SmartRF Studio in order to check the range using the recommended PHY settings. Is this possible for you to perform in the first instance?

Are you planning to use the CC1352P for the transmitter in the final product (or both TX/RX will use the CC1352R), rather than CC1352R for TX and CC1352P for RX?

we are using launchpad CC1352p7-1 whip antenna connected in the SMA connector..

Yes we can use the RF studio to verify the range ..

we are open to use CC1352P instead of LPSTK..but we thought all the sensors(especially accelerometer)is integrated in LPSTK to get the actual value without doing much Trial ..

we tested the radio as per your suggestion ..

1.We got almost 700mtrs with 20dbm Tx power in proprietary Mode

But the 15.4 Stack does not allow us to change the Tx power from 5 to 20 dbm..

can you please suggest us which protocol should we use considering power, range and payload

Manu: The description of how you measure is vague. Range is impacted of a lot of different factors and it's not possible to comment on why you get a shorter range than expected without knowing exactly what you are doing.

Ideally you need to write a description on how you do your measurements, including pictures and screenshots, settings, that enables anyone that reads this thread to do the exact same measurement without any follow up questions.
