LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1: Is it possible to enter ROM bootloader from software activation?

I have my custom PCB where I can program it by using Uniflash trhough Serial bootloader by enabling Bootloader backdoor pin, and by putting to the logic level required after reset.

I was wondering if is it possible to do this only with software. For instance, forcing the chip to reset and by having some how that pin in the required logic level?

I think that by setting SET_CCFG_IMAGE_VALID_CONF_IMAGE_VALID (section 11.2.1.18 of the Technical Reference Manual) to another value prior to system reset, you can reboot into the ROM bootloader.

I was thinking in a way of testing that. For instance, when a press a button for 5 second a function would be called. Such function would look like:

void Function(){

SET_Register(SET_CCFG_IMAGE_VALID_CONF_IMAGE_VALID); // I don't know exactly what would be the sintax for writing into that register, can you help me with that?

SysCtrlSystemReset(); //reset MCU

}

Then the MCU would reset and would be in bootloader mode. Is that it?

The "SET_register" call you are looking for is actually "HWREG()", as seen here:

Hey Arthur,

I was thinking about calling the HWREG function like this:

HWREG(CCFG_O_IMAGE_VALID_CONF) = <invalid adress>; //<Invalid adress> = other than the adress of the vector table adress

But perhaps i misunderstood the solution since the CCFG_O_IMAGE_VALID_CONF is type R - meaning that is read only.

This solved my problem:

In file ssf.c in Ssf_processEvents function i modified this code calling HWREG and SysCtrlSystemReset() functions as written below :

        Ssf_updateStatusFlag(STATUS_FLAGS_TAMPER, SET_FLAG);
        Sensor_sendSwEvent(Smsgs_cmdIds_sw_tamperEvt);
        LED_startBlinking(ledGreenHandle, 500, 5);
        HWREG(CCFG_O_IMAGE_VALID_CONF) = 0XFFFFFFFF;
        SysCtrlSystemReset(); //reset MCU
        Util_clearEvent(&events, TAMPER_PRESS_EVT);
    }

I flashed the launchpad with CSS. After that I pressed the left button. Here the launchpad has reseted and entered bootloader mode. I was then able to flash another program through Serial Bootloader using Uniflash.
