CC1311R3: help~ how to use SmartRF studio to test RF performance

Hi, there.

I'm trying to start RF tests with SmartRF studio. But the manual didn't show me how to connect TI EVK to my board( using CC1311R3).

what I know is, I can use TI EVK x 2 and SmartRF studio to do RF tests like the below:

LP-CC1311P3　<=(USB)=>　PC＋SmartRF Studio　<=(USB)=>LP-CC1311P3

but I want to do the RF tests as below:

LP-CC1311P3　<=(USB)=>　PC＋SmartRF Studio　<=(USB)=>LP-CC1311P3 <=(wired connection)=> my board.

my questions are

1, can I use LP-CC1311P3 to test my board( using CC1311R3)?

2, how can I connect my board to LP-CC1311P3? (UART/SPI/IIC...)

Hi,

The LP-CC1311P3 contains an XDS110 debugger, so you can use JTAG to connect your custom board.

You can connect the JTAG jumper wires as in the following image:

Or use the JTAG connector next to them (the upper one that is on the XDS110 portion of the LaunchPad in the image above).

Note that you will need to use one LaunchPad to program your board and will not be able to use that LaunchPad for anything else during testing as you are disconnecting the XDS110 debugger from the CC1311R3.

From that point you can use SmartRF Studio to evaluate your board as before as long as you set the IO configuration(s) correctly (as the default IO configurations in SmartRF Studio are for LaunchPads and EMs) in Settings -> Custom Target Configuration
