CC1311P3: Decode PPM using ASK?

Part Number: CC1311P3

I want to decode ADS-B, which uses Pulse Position Modulation at 1 mbaud.  For PPM a 0 is OOK of 01, and a 1 is 10

In theory, the radio could match a preamble, decode OOK or ASK at 2 mbaud, and then let the MCU decode the PPM from bits.  The CC1311 or CC1352 has the frequency and data rates to support ADS-B.

Is this possible?

Is there a different chip that would be better?

If it matters, the volume is roughly thousands a year.

Thanks

  • Hi,

We do not support Pulse Position Modulation in the general software release (SDK).

Agree that in theory that the radio can match the preamble and decode OOK/ASK of a ADS-B signal. The main issue is the synchronization of the PPM signals. This can be achieved via a software patch. However, making a software patch is resource demanding and can only be supported if the volumes are significant.

Please be more specific on the volumes of this case.
