CC1312R: use OADand use bootloader jump to the APP

Hi Team，

SDK&CCS are all newest.

My customer want to use OAD, execute the written boot loader to run from the starting position, and then jump to the APP part of the application.

How to set the starting address of the APP part? How to jump?

Hi Galaxy,

Depending on the software stack or proprietary RF used by the customer, also depending on if the customer needs on-chip or off-chip configuraton there are OAD examples in the SDK. The Readme from these examples should give a fair idea of what needs to be done.

Hi Sid，

His focus should be on how to use the bootloader to jump to the APP, how to set the starting address of the app, and how to jump.

Not how to use OAD examples.

Hi Galaxy,

Our OAD examples do just what you described. If he checks how our OAD example works and also check our OAD documentation, he will see how we use the BIM and OAD images, to execute the BIM image on reset and how it jumps to he application image.

Which stack is he using? If not, is he using Proprietary RF?

If there is no radio transmission (OAD), is he using serial bootloader. I need these details, to provide a better answer.

Hi Galaxy,

If you are using the ROM serial bootloader, once the application image is transferred to flash, the device is reset and on reset the application image executes. The flash vector table along with Reset ISR, it expected at location 0.

Here is the application note which explains how to do use this ROM bootloader.

If you are not using the ROM serial bootloader. But using a custom bootloader that you have written, then please refer to the BIM example available in the SDK.

For you to be able to Jump to application, there are multiple things that you need to keep in mind or this to work. The OAD examples in the SDK would explain you this.

I know this is a BLE training. But the chapters I mention and the process still applies across any OAD. I strongly recommend going through the training because jump to app start needs CCFG, image and vector table to be placed correctly. This is explained in the training.

If the customer has taken care of the CCFG and is just looking for a function to jump to a particular address. I suggest you to look at the function jumpToPrgEntry() in the project bim_onchip_CC1312R1_LAUNCHXL_nortos_ticlang found in the SDK.
