Hi,

We are going to design a sensor board including WiSUN, ZigBee and Thread wireless functions. The purpose of this sensor board is to collect local sensor data and transmit it to a border router.

Thus, I would like to purchase two LP-CC1352P7 development kits, which one for the sensor mode and the other for the router mode simulation.

1. Does the LP-CC1352P7 launch board support both sensor mode and border router mode ?

2. I study TI 15.4 stack software, and I find it has Collector (SUB1G/2.4G) and Sensor (SUB1G/2.4G) example code, as below link.

Will using this example program achieve the desired result ?

3. I didn't have TI CC1352 SDK development experience.

When I get the kit, I have to use SIMPLELINK-LOWPOWER-SDK software package to bring up it. Is this a TI-RTOS code base ?

How does TI 15.4 stack software works in conjunction with the SIMPLELINK-LOWPOWER-SDK ?

4. Do I need to purchase the TI debugger board (LP-XDS110ET) for PC communication, when I set LP-CC1352P7 kit as a border router mode ?

Hi Rick,

1. The CC1352P7 can be used as a router node ( with sensor) and as a border router. You can find the available Wi-SUN examples in this link.

2. The TI 15.4 stack examples are star network examples with one central device(collector) and sensor devices in the network. These examples show you multiple sensor devices reporting to one collector. You can check the examples in this link.

3. When you download the SimpleLink-Lowpower-SDK-F2.https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-LOWPOWER-SDK .

, you will get the 15.4 stack library and examples as well. You do not need to download other 15.4 stack code to develop on CC1352P7 launchpads.

4. No, if you are using the LP-CC1352P7 kit for evaluation, you just need to connect the board to the PC using micro-USB, you do not need an additional debugger.

5. The same as point 4. The LP-CC1352P7 board comes with an on-board emulator . You do not need another debugger, simply connecting to the PC with microusb is enough.

Hi Sid,

Regarding the star network in TI15.4, it is a TI specific example.

If I implement standard WiSUN mesh- network, I should use SDK as you described as below. Is this right ?

I found there are TI-RTOS and Free-TROS two option.

Which SDK is recommended ?

Hi Rick,

Yes, it is the same SDK that contains the WiSUN examples as well.

I would recommend TI-RTOS if you do not have a preference of operating system.

Can I use LP-CC1352P7 evaluation board to achive these function ?

Which version of the SDK supports Zigbee and Thread?

Can I integrate those functions together ?

Hi Rick,

The LP-CC1352P7 supports Wi-SUN, Zigbee and Thread.

You can find Wi-SUN and Zigbee examples in the simplelink SDK that you have downloaded.

Thread examples can be found in this github repo: https://github.com/TexasInstruments/ot-ti/blob/main/script/build

We do not support integrating these protocols together. There will be RAM and flash limitations.

I believe TI can provide assistance with technical issues encountered during the porting of Wi-SUN and Zigbee code in the SDK.

Does TI support technical issue during porting of Thread code in the github repo ?
