CC1352P7: How to increase the network capacity to 100 nodes with Wi-Sun stack

I have a customer wants to test a 100-node Wi-Sun network with CC1352P7. The SDK Wi-Sun example has a limit for max device table entries of 60 by default in router.opts:

-DMAX_DEVICE_TABLE_ENTRIES=60

If one wants to increase the network capacity, like to 100, is this the only parameter needed to be modified? Any other parameters to change?

And how many nodes does CC1352P7 support in practical for Wi-Sun network? Is there any test results for the capacity?

Hi Shuyang,

MAX_DEVICE_TABLE_ENTRIES is the define for the number of nearest neighbors (not the number for the total network size).

The routing table is dynamically allocated, so the BR will keep adding devices until it runs out of heap memory. The heap size in the BR project is set at linktime to use all available RAM memory. So if you increase MAX_DEVICE_TABLE_ENTRIES, you are using more SRAM for this table, you will have less available memory for heap and the max number of devices in the network will be smaller.

Thanks for the detail. So in extreme case, if all routers join directly to the BR, the device number will be limited by MAX_DEVICE_TABLE_ENTRIES, right?

Yes the number of nearest neighbors to the BR is limited by the MAX_DEVICE_TABLE_ENTRIES number on the BR.
