Hi team,

I want to develop a device in a Sub-1 GHz network that stays in "sleep" mode to consume as low energy as possible and from time to time it wakes up and sends a broadcast message.

Is there an example on SimpleLink CC13xx CC26xx SDK or somewhere else which I can follow to develop this application?

Hi Eduardo,

The simplest example we have for this is the proprietary rf packet tx example. The device wakes up, sends the packet and goes to sleep.

If you want a more fully featured network, I would recommend using TI 15.4-Stack. We support sleepy nodes in all three modes (non-beacon, beacon and frequency hopping) and this is the default configuration of the device.

Hi Marie,

I was looking at the Proprietary RF examples, and once I want a sleep device, wouldn't be better using the rfWakeOnRadioTx?

Not necessarily.

Wake-on-radio is a pretty specific use case where the radio is listening and wakes up the MCU.

If you want the best possible power performance, sending both the MCU to sleep and the radio to sleep and waking up on a timer will give you better performance.

As long as you use an RTOS this is handled by the TI power driver. Yes.
