I am an undergraduate student learning RF through CubeSat design. We have CC1110 transceiver on our communication PCB passed down from previous design.
As I was trying to verify the link budget calculation, I noticed that the Eb/N0 calculation can be different whether the detection is coherent or non-coherent. My question is then:
Does CC1110 or CC1101 receiver detect Frequency Modulation coherently or non-coherently?
I browsed through many forums here, and found one about Noise Figure and SNR, but still not close to my question.
For Phase-coherent demodulation of M-ary FSK to happen, there must be some Phase Lock Loop as feedback to mixer. This is my understanding after reading some communication theory textbook:

However, I don't see any PLL feedback loop in figure 9. Simplified Block Diagram in CC1101 datasheet.
The datasheet does mention PLL turn on time etc. Is the PLL only used in the frequency synthesizer? but not in any coherent phase detection?
If you can provide a detailed block diagram, that would be wonderful!
Or if you can answer:
GFSK is coherently or non-coherently detected on CC1110 receiver?
MSK is coherently or non-coherently detected on CC1110 receiver?
