CC1312PSIP: Using TI-RTOS, move to FreeRTOS?

Tool/software:

We are currently developing under TI-RTOS using SimpleLink to interface with the TI 15.4 stack. This project is somewhat new as of the beginning of the year. Should we consider moving to FreeRTOS instead or is there some advantages for debugging and integration by sticking with TI-RTOS?

Hi Kevin,

The main debugging tool in TI RTOS is the ROV. We don't have this kind of tool for FreeRTOS.

Looking forward, we're not planning to support TI RTOS on upcoming platforms. (E.g. there is no TI RTOS on the CC2340 platform.) But for CC1312PSIP it's fully supported.

You may also see a slight difference in memory consumption. You can build the two projects and compare, if this is an important factor.

Thank you for you response. After trying to use ROV in my project and running into trouble I searched on how to fix missing references. When I did this, it seemed that it mentioned FreeRTOS more often than TI RTOS as though it worked for either. Memory consumption isn't a concern at this time. I will start a new thread on trying to get ROV working under TI RTOS. It looks to be valuable, but I am getting errors while trying to get it to show the graphs.
