CC1120: Can I use PA + PCB antenna to achieve similar performance of an external antenna?

Maybe it's dumb question but I want to ask if I can use Power Amplifier with PCB antenna to achieve similar performance of an external antenna?

    Hi,

    It depends on the frequency and the size of your board, PCB antenna size and GND plane size.

    For most hand size boards at > 868 MHz, the PCB antenna can match an external antenna providing that the casing, display or batteries are not blocking / loading the PCB antenna.

    For lower frequencies for hand size devices, it can be difficult to match an external antenna due to the physical wavelength size.
