Tool/software:
Hi Team,
My customer want to find a TI SUB-G IC to fit the following requirement:
1.carrier frequency setting :162MHz
2 GMSK modulation BT can be changed to 0.4
Please help to check if CC1311 is recommanded.
If not, please help to provide suggestion.
Thanks.
Hi,
For future reference, you can refer to the device datasheets for the supported RF frequency bands; in this case Section 8.9 of the CC1311R3 Datasheet: https://www.ti.com/lit/swrs256
However, if the reference design for that frequency band cannot be found then it is of course a good idea to ask on E2E.
1. Yes it is within the supported frequency range but we do not have a finalised design. The customer can refer to the following thread for the preliminary design as a starting point (remove the 2.4 GHz sections): https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/sub-1-ghz-group/sub-1-ghz/f/sub-1-ghz-forum/1038017/cc1310-cc1310-cc1312-169-mhz-balum-and-lc-filter-design-guidelines
You can use the CC1311R3 for this purpose.
The CC112x transceivers also have designs for 169 MHz - CC1125EM-169 (SWRR100): https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/swrr100
2. Modulation BT cannot be changed from BT = 0.5
Regards,
Zack
Hi Mike,
A clarification: I think modulation BT can be changed, but we only do this for large customers due to needing to tune several required overrides. So, it depends on the customer size.
Regards,
Zack
Hi Zack,
Thanks for promply reply.
Please help to check if TI have CC1311 example code or application note which can be referenced to fine-tune to the register setting for the following requirement:
1.carrier frequency setting :162MHz
2 GMSK modulation BT can be changed to 0.4
Thanks.
Hi,
I remembered there is a design for the CC1352R that is designed for this band (CC1352EM-XS169-XS24), please see the following thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/sub-1-ghz-group/sub-1-ghz/f/sub-1-ghz-forum/1092470/cc1352r-cc1352em-xs169-xs24-reference-design
It is recommended to use this design.
The customer can use only the Sub-1 GHz paths with the CC1311R3 and combine the RX/TX paths (which in the above design are separate RX/TX paths operating in single-ended operation) with a SPDT RF switch, as is implemented on the LP-CC1311P3 (SPRR488): https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sprr488
The available settings for the 169 MHz band can be found in SmartRF Studio 7: https://www.ti.com/tool/SMARTRFTM-STUDIO
Additionally, the CC1352EM-XS169-XS24 design can be selected in SmartRF Studio (change the Target Configuration) to configure the radio correctly.
The 169 MHz settings all seem to be WMBUS N-MODE PHYs, so this is what has been tested. We do not have other PHY settings for this frequency band.
The customer would need to find settings themselves if they are not using one of these PHYs; for this they can refer to SWRA682 (Finding Settings for new PHYs for the CC13x0 and CC13x2 Family): https://www.ti.com/lit/swra682
For changing the modulation BT, you would need to contact TI to discuss the size of the opportunity.
Regards,
Zack
