CC1352P7: CC1352P7 Differential pair design

Part Number: CC1352P7
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: STRIKE

Tool/software:

We are working with a dipole antenna for our CC1352P7 module (868Mhz). The RF port is converted from differential pair to single ended  port before connecting to antenna. We are looking for a design where we can use the differential pair lines without balun and connecting to the dipole antenna (as in AN058, page 9). Can you please help us in getting an example of the same?

  • Hi,

Previously we made Folded Dipole designs directly fed from the RF_P and RF_N pads but this design topology is difficult so support for the broad market which is the main reason we do not promote this.

You will need to simulate your design in ADS or CST with your specific PCB layer stackup and simulate the antenna in a 3D simulator such as CST with your final casing.

In addition, this topology is more prone to ESD issues since an ESD strike on the antenna, will be more severe on the chip.

What are your main objectives choosing this topology compared to the standard reference design ?
