LP-EM-CC1314R10: LP-EM-CC1314R10 problem with SysConfig

Part Number: LP-EM-CC1314R10
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1314R10, SYSCONFIG,

Tool/software:

Good evening,

i'm Luca Gandolfi and i have a problem with CCS12.8.1 and simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_7_41_00_17, when i use CC1314R10.

In particular, the SysConfig configurator have a layout problem thta allows me to use only one SubGhz physical layer (PHY 868MHz) .

I would also need to use the 433MHz PHY, which instead i can do for example if i use the CC1312.

This appears to be due to the RF Design relating to the CC1314 which does not allow the physical layer (PHY 433MHz) to be configured.

Do you have an idea on how i can solve the problem??

Best Regards,

Luca Gandolfi

  • Hi Luca, I would suggest you to export the 433 MHz setting for SmartRF Studio 7, if they are present.

If not, it means that this has not been characterized yet.

    Regards,

    Arthur

  • Hi Arthur,

the same is with SmartRF Studio 7.

It only sees the physical configuration layer for 868Mhz.

    Best Regards,

    Luca

  • Hi Luca,

Regarding the 433 MHz configuration in SmartRF Studio 7 specifically, this looks to not have been added yet. I may need to find a workaround so you can test it.

    Are you using the RGZ (7mm x 7mm) or RSK (8mm x 8mm) package of the CC1314R10?

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi Zack,

    i use the RSK package.

I believe it is a problem given by a new product, and on the reference board (LP-EM-CC1314R10) the antenna match is at 868MHz, so the priority was given to the 868MHz layer.

    Best Regards,

    Luca

  • Hi Luca,

Thanks for clarifying; it's correct that a 433 MHz BOM updated for the RSK package has not been released yet.

I'll need to check what the options for this are (regarding both the SmartRF Studio/Sysconfig setup and the 433 MHz BOM for the RSK package) and reply on Thursday.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi,

    anyone with some news??

    Regards,

    Luca

  • Hi Luca,

This has not been forgotten about, but I cannot give a date for when these settings will be finalised.

Please can you specify exactly what your requirements are?

To give some context; due to the number of different possible configurations for this device, the larger the order size the more resources we can devote to a given design and settings. I am trying to see if I can devote some time to develop a preliminary BOM you can use and a starting point for PHY settings, but I cannot commit to a timeline. If you have a specific default PHY that you are interested in, this reduces the scope of the effort and I will be more able to help with this.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi Zack,

attached i have put a image with a PHY that i use now with CC1352.

I think that for my use is a good configuration for start the design.

    Thank's.

    Regards,

    Luca

  • Hi Luca,

Thank you - I can't give you an exact date for the PHY settings but it will likely not be within the next 2 weeks due to bench availability. If you are okay with reduced testing of the specific PHY you specified, I could share preliminary settings sooner than otherwise (as we would need to test a larger device population over more conditions), but I will not be able to do so this week regardless. The risk is lower than with a new PHY because this PHY has been extensively tested on other CC131x/CC135x devices.

It would not be SysConfig settings, instead I will need to provide exported SmartRF Studio 7 settings for you to use (otherwise it would mean waiting for an SDK update for it to be added) - I will upload them in a reply to this thread.

Regarding a BOM, I need to check with my manager. The topology and layout will almost certainly be the same as the 4-layer LP-EM-CC1314R10 design, so if you design your board and have the option to update the BOM later, you could submit the design for a layout review in the meantime using:

Sub-1 GHz Design Review Submission: https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-SUB1GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS

I will aim to keep this thread unlocked if it does lock unintentionally, but of course please create a new thread if you can't reply to this one.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi Zack,

it doesn't matter the timing at the moment, i would prefer to work directly on a PHY layer
already set up and stable on SysConfig. I will download the SDK directly when it is ready. In the meantime, let's finish the development of the 868MHz module.
For the same reason, there is no urgency for the BOM at the moment.
As in this case we could evaluate for the first productions to use a your third-party module, for example RFstar

Maybe when an SDK updated to the new physical layer comes out, send me a message.

    Thank's for your availability

    Best Regrds,
    Luca
