CC1120: wM-Bus registers

Part Number: CC1120
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, CC1125,

Tool/software:

Hi — are the register values used to produce the measurement results in AN121 (SWRA423) available?

I understand it should be possible to generate this via SmartRF, but I'm struggling to confirm which version of SmartRF is correct, as neither SmartRF 7 or 8 have a profile for AN121 — guidance on how to export the register values used in AN121 (or an uploaded export!) would be hugely beneficial for us for prototyping our wM-Bus receiver solution.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any further information — thanks!

  • Hi Luke,

this is a fairly old product and at that time the MSP430 wM-Bus stack was used.

I would recommend you to look into using CC1310 and then you have a free stack offering from ti: https://www.ti.com/tool/WMBUS and for the latest features you can then use Stackforces solution.

Please let me know what you think about that.

    Kind regards,
    Theo

  • Hi Theo — thanks for getting back to me!

I'd like to use the CC1120 or CC1125 as part of a two-chip solution, whereas the CC1310 looks like a one-chip solution.

Specifically, we already have an MCU selected for our hardware platform, so we'd just like to sellotape a transceiver to this to support wM-Bus frame ingestion.

I appreciate the app note I've mentioned is indeed quite old — please could you let me know if the CC1120/CC1125 are still the best options for a two-chip wM-Bus solution, or if you have an alternative product in mind?

    Thanks,

    Luke
