CC1310: Does the housing affect the center frequency of the antenna?

Part Number: CC1310

Tool/software:

I have a custom board with CC1310 and PCB antenna. The device will be placed inside a plastic housing, are the antenna characteristics and center frequency radiation affected in that situation? If so how are they corrected.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Yes, the antenna can be effected by the external plastic housing but this depends on the exact plastic material used. The main item to keep in to account is to antenna match your antenna with the final plastic casing. There can be a delta between the 3D printed material for a prototype and the final plastic material as well since it highly depends on the plastics being used.
