CC1101: Analog RF transmission IC?

Part Number: CC1101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204

Tool/software:

Hello,

Does TI have an IC that would enable me to pass it analog audio on the input so that it would send it off over RF?

Then I'd need the matching RF received IC on the other end... Something that can do minimum 300ft?

Thanks,

Benoit

  • Hi,

The main question here is the quality of the analogue audio that is required. This will determine the data rate that will be required to send the data over RF. The analogue audio must go through an audio CODEC first then into the radio chip.

Suggest to look at the various audio CODEC available in the forum: e2e.ti.com/.../audio-forum

Once you have established the data rate required for your audio quality requirement, then we can look at which radio suits best.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the fast reply. Actually, my audio CODEC is the TLV320AIC3204. I have a PDM microphone tied to it and at the moment, I hear it through the headset output HPL. I have the quality set to 48KHz and I can set it to any of the bitrates available (16, 20, 24 and 32).

That's the analog signal out on HPL that I want so send over an RF link.

Let me know if this is clearer.

    Thanks,

    Benoit

  • Hi,

    With 48 kHz and 32 bits: 1536 kbps -> 192 kBaud.

Then the sensitivity would be at 868 MHz, 250 kBaud: -95 dBm

Using the TI Range Estimator: https://www.ti.com/tool/RF-RANGE-ESTIMATOR

Would expect a range in the region of 230-368m with the parameters used below in the range estimator tool.

  • Hi,

Yes, that range would be good!
