Hi,

I have a Sensor device based on sensor_oad_offchip_secure_LP_EM_CC1312PSIP_tirtos7_ticlang

I have a BIM and the BIN loaded, and everything runs okay. However, if I debug in CCS Theia, then the .out file gets loaded and I loose the data that has been set in the OAD header during the bin file creation. Specifically, the application length is not set in the .out file and I'm trying to get TOAD working.

Is there a way to debug a device running a binary file? If not, how do I debug a device running OAD binaries?

Hi,

Thanks. I have taken out all CRC checking and have TOAD working. I am wondering if it's possible to use the .out file instead of the .hex file when creating the .bin file so that the program will run in debug mode.

Hi Andrew,

I do believe you should use the .out file when your BIM application, unless you also want to debug the BIM behavior.

If you really want to debug the bin file, you could try the following in Theia:

Which should make the debug session run to the IMG_A start flash offset.

Thanks for your reply. This is useful information.

I do not need to debug the BIM.

I really need to debug the application binary as oad_image_tool.py changes the data at the start of memory when creating the binary. This means that if I debug normally, then the CRC fails on the TOAD process as the values in the headers are wrong as it is loading up the application before the header changes.

Can I debug in Theia without flashing over the binary and only load symbols? Would this allow me to effectively debug a binary image with the correct OAD/TOAD data at the start of memory?

Hi Andy,

We can do so indeed, by adding the "loadSymbolsOnly" key in your launch.json file:
