CC1310: Flashing to custom CC1310 using onboard XDS100 from separate LAUNCHXL-CC1310

Hi Experts,

Would like to ask assistance on this query from customer:

Due to limitations, customer is unable to acquire a standalone XDS110 debugger. As an alternative, they're hoping to repurpose the onboard XDS110 debug probe (MSP432) from the CC1310 LaunchPad to flash firmware onto a third-party CC1310 chip on a custom PCB.

We understand that we would need to connect the TMS and TCK lines via jumper wires from the LaunchPad to the custom CC1310’s JTAG interface, and then use Code Composer Studio (CCS) for programming.

Could you please confirm whether this approach is technically feasible?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

There is no issue with that approach (not forgetting of course the GND wire, and maybe 3V3). The XDS110 on the MSP432 is still an XDS110, and does not care about what device it is connected to, as long as it is compatible.

    Regards,
