CC1311P3: TX reverse power measurement

Part Number: CC1311P3

Tool/software:

Hi,

We would like to know the possible ways to read back the observed reverse power in the TX path.

Please let us know if we can use any in-built command/other mechanism to read back the reverse power for the given transmission power configured.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

There is not an in-built solution for this; it would require an external circuit to be designed which we have not investigated.

What is the application for this requirement? It may be there is an alternative for what you are trying to achieve.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi,

Our requirement is to report the TX forward and TX reverse power as a Health metric to the application entity.

Please suggest the required external circuit to achieve on the same.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I will be on leave until late next week - I have shared this with colleagues in case they can contribute in the meantime.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Hi Theiv,

It is unclear what you are trying to achieve here. Are you looking for a power detector or trying to detect the level of Tx mismatch ?

  • Hi RGW,

We are trying to detect the level of TX mismatch and any reverse power on the TX path observed at the RFIC end

  • Hi,

Why not do this indirectly by measuring the current consumption?

If you measure the current consumption with a pure 50 ohm load on the antenna port as a reference then measure with your matched antenna. These two measurements will give the current consumption under matched conditions.

Then if you deliberately detune the antenna, you should see a delta in current consumption.
