LP-XDS110ET: Question about launchpad connector

Part Number: LP-XDS110ET
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP-XDS110, LP-EM-CC2340R5

Tool/software:

Hello!

I like the LP- XDS110 and plan to copy my CC2340's launchpad header on my first round of PCBs, to continue using the debugger as I develop.

My question is: Is the XDS_BoardID_SCL and SDA required? I have to assume no, but maybe CCS' debugger needs it

On the LP-XDS110, it connects to the MSP432's I2C

On the launchpad, it connects to a discrete flash chip which holds the boardID.

Ideally, I want to leave these pins as no connects on my design. Thanks!

  • Hi,

On the LP-EM-CC2340R5, the SCL/SDA  have DNM lines to the header.

So probably not critical to include.

I've notified a HW expert to further comment.

    Thanks,
    Toby

  • Hi,

As Toby has mentioned and you have suspected, these two pins are not needed for your final design.

These two pins are indeed connected to the small I2C memory to allow identifying the board as a LP-EM-CC2340R5 development kit.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
