CC1312R: High power consumption in TX

Part Number: CC1312R

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support,

We are currently evaluating a custom PCB design based on the CC1312R1, and we’re observing significantly higher current consumption during TX compared to the TI LaunchPad (development kit), despite running identical firmware.

Mag TX Current Measurements (Measured @ 3.3 V supply):

TX Power LaunchPad Custom PCB
13 dBm 22.0 mA 40.5 mA
0 dBm 8.7 mA 12.6 mA

White check mark Debugging Steps Taken So Far:

  • Verified supply voltages and decoupling capacitors are stable and match the datasheet recommendations.

  • Confirmed that the DC-DC regulator is enabled. Disabling it results in higher current consumption on both platforms (as expected), confirming that it is at least functionally active.

  • External peripherals were removed from the test setup to isolate the CC1312R1 current draw.

Pushpin Request

Would you be able to review our schematic and layout to help identify any potential design issues that could lead to increased TX current?

We suspect a possible issue in either the RF matching network or DC-DC power configuration.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,
Sondre
