CC1312R: where can I find more information on new feature Frequency-Hopping Low Latency Broadcast Mode?

Part Number: CC1312R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310

Tool/software:

Hi,

The changelog of SDK v8.31 mentioned a new feature that seems quite interesting:

Achieve low latency and low power consumption while frequency hopping with the new Low Latency Frequency Hopping Broadcast mode in TI 15.4-Stack

My question is, where can I find more information about this new feature? Benchmark on power consumption? What is the actual latency? Backward compatibility? The documentation as we can see here doesn't really say much.

Please advise, thanks.

  • Hi Zhiyong,

For now the user's guide is the only documentation we have. For power consumption and latency you will need to make your own measurement.

Regarding backward compatibility: This mode is not compatible with other TI 15.4-Stack modes. All devices in your network should run the same mode.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Marie,

    Thanks for your quick response.

A follow up question: Is there plan to port FH_LOW_LATENCY_BROADCAST mode back to support CC1310? I understand CC1310 is a very old MCU, but we managed to get them interoperate with CC1312/52 in the same network in Beacon/Non-beacon/FH modes as of SDK v8.30. It would be nice if we can re-use those CC1310 radios when we move onto the new FH_LOW_LATENCY_BROADCAST mode.

    Best,

    ZL

  • Hi Zhiyong,

I don't know about any plan to add this mode on CC1310.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Marie,

Thanks for your reply. I have asked another question in a separate about the comparison between FH with broadcast enabled and FH-LLB mode. Could you or invite some of your colleagues to offer some perspective/

    Best,
