How often should I calibrate the radio?

Hi

Assuming the processor never sleeps and just continuously listens for an incoming packet which may only arrive once a week, should I periodically  recalibrate the radio?  If so, how often?

Thanks

Bill

  • For one carrier frequency there is no need to recalibrate if the temperature changes less than +/-40C. However, for a more robust system I would calibrate 3 temperatures, e.g -10C, +27C, +55C.

All analog sub-modules, except the charge pump, are connected to on-chip regulators. However, the charge pump is connected to un-regulated power, and although the PLL will lock for significant changes in output power, we recommend the PLL being re-calibrated for a +/-0.2 V change to get a more optimum charge pump current (e.g for stability reasons).
