CC2511/1111 debugging USB

Hi,

I'm new to the IAR tools and to the Ti USB chips although I've worked with the 8051 a few times in the past.

I'm finding the IAR IDE crashing every time I try to debug with the USB dongle attached -- both for the RS232-RF example and the "simple HID" example.  I have no issue compiling, but the whole thing augers in ever time i hit the debug button.      I can program the EM and dongles fine, but for the case of the dongle I need to have it powered separately to program.

I'm a fully supported IAR user and have the whole development kit.   The documentation is a bit of a hodge podge because it covers so many chips and the development kit has been around a while.

I guess what I'm asking is whether or not anyone else is experiencing these problems and how they're debugging their USB apps using the IAR tools.   I fear I must have missed something fairly simple in the docs.

thanks!

  • As a follow-up, it seems that I'm having some success debugging if I power the dongle separately (disconnected from the PC)....  start the debug that way and then plug it into the PC.

time will tell if this is stable or not.

    Any further tips are welcomed!

    thanks,

    Lance
