Did you hear already about CC2591 - Range Extender? if not go on or let me know!

  • Yes, the CC2591 was released to market last week. Samples are available from the TI web site and reference designs are currently being developed for the TI 2.4Ghz transceivers and SoCs.

    Thanks, Emmanuel.

  • Currently we have (CC2430+CC2591) design, probably we will not have (CC2420+CC2591) any time soon. TI encourages CC2420 customer to move CC2520 and for extended range to use the (CC2520+CC2591) design as they will need a redesign anyway and in this way they can get better performance at lower price :-)

  • Hi Nobody and Everybody.

I'm laying out a board with a CC2500 and CC2591. The CC2591 datasheet has helped me with the proper way to connect the two together but nothing much else. When it comes to the TL's it refers one to the Ref. design. I'm trying to follow the layout shown there but am unsure about the exact thickness and length of the tracks forming the TL's. I am unable to open any of the files except the pdf's since I use Orcad (they dont open in Protel either..).

The datasheet also recommends using a multi-layerd PCB. I'm wonderig if the Ref design layout can be followed using a double sided PCB. I hear the CC2500+CC2591 design will only come out towards the end of the year but I was hoping to get help here sooner as my product needs to have been shipped by then.
