CC1101 Best Baud Rate

Hello,

We have already developed and deployed a wireless appliance network using CC1101 (GFSK modulation).

Two baud rates, 1.2 and 38.4, are used for control packets and bulk packets respectively.

The reason why we have used 1.2 kbps for control packets is that guaranteed delivery is required for the nodes located in far away form the central node. In other words, 1.2 kbps is used for better sensitivity and long rage.

Recently we have changed 1.2kbps to 4.8kbps and we found that range was almost doubled in the exactly same system.

MY QUESTION IS,

What is the best baud rate that can be used to achieve best range and sensitivity?

I personally like 38.4kbps as a compromise between speed and sensitivity.

Thank you for the replay!

However it indicates that we can increase the range it the baud rate is reduced. In our case, speed does not matter. Unfortunately we got better range (almost doubled) if 1.2 kbps was replaced by 4.8 kbps.

Can it be explained?

Further, we have accidentally used 26MHz crystal instead of recommended 26.Mhz crystal and we observed that 1.2 kbps did not work at all. 4.8 and 38.4 were functioned . I am wondering whether there is any inherent issue in the 1.2kbps.

I'm new to programming CC430F613x sub-1GHz system-on-chip (SoC) devices. I have the same problem that you, when I want to lower datarate to 1.2kB, transmission operates two minutes and stop.
Did you manage to solve the problem ?
If so I'd like to have your help
