CC1101 - WOR using the SYNC byte

Hi all,

I am using a CC1101 in WOR: Period 1.89 seconds, with 14.6 seconds on time. 4 preamble bytes and 4 sync bytes.  I am sending fixed length packets.  I am flooding the WOR device with packets that inlude 2 addtional bytes.

I was working at 38400 baud rate, but would like to drop to 9600 to increase sensitivity.  The problem is that the period on the flood packets is 26 ms. and the WOR device is not detecting.

My question:  What actually causes a cc1101 to stay in RX when it is in WOR?  Is it just SYNC byte detection?  If I flood with a larger fixed packet filled with the SYNC byte pattern, is this a valid way to wake up the device?
