SmartRF Studio cannot open with the CC1110 Board

I just brought the CC1110 Mini Development Kit 868/915 MHz.

Now i try to test the module with SmartRF Studio v7 (the latest version i got from TI webside).

SmartRF Studio can detect the cc1110, but if i want to open it, then it shows the error message as follow

My operation system is win 7, 64bit. Does any one know where is the problem?

Thanks very much

willy

  • I got this error message today with another board but if I clicked ok and tried again I had no problems. Does this occur every time?

  • Hi TER, thanks for your answer. Yes it happened every time.

But i found the solution. I just created a folder Usb under the path \Teax Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Drivers\msp430,

and then copy the Certified folder to the Usb folder i created.

    After that everything works fine!!

    Quite strange.

Bug in the latest SmartRF Studio?

  • Yes, it looks like a bug. This will be corrected in a upcoming version of Studio, thank you for letting us know.

  • Hi Willy,

The error message you  got has normally nothing to do with the folder you have modified. I guess you added the "usb" folder because you saw this in an error message during installation of SmartRF Studio 7?

This was actually an error in the installer (wrong path when trying to install a driver) and will be updated in the next version (1.14.1). This should be available on the public web in a day or two.

The error message you got from the startup window can appear if you have more than one startup window at ones. The communication between the startup window and the Device Control Panel can get mixed up in that case. I guess you closed all the startup windows and by that the problem seemed to be solved when you changed the path.
