C1100EM-433 EVK required for SmartRf packet sniffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PACKET-SNIFFER, CC1100, CC1101

Hi,

I am helping some guys out with a legacy C1100 product. We need to set up a SmartRf Packet sniffer. We have the C1100-433 daughter cards but not the motherboard, which appears to be end of life and not available.

Can someone advise if we get the C1101 EVK, these radios will work on it with SmartRf. From what I can see these are the boards SmartRF04EB/SmartRF05EB.

I was thinking I could maybe use the FR5739 Experimenters board, but I realise I would need to write all the interfacing code + whatever else is required and I can't find any documentation on this.

Advice appreciated,

Andy

  • Andy,

If you have the little EM board (CC1100EM), then you already have the most important part of the puzzle. The little EM cards all have a common connector interface and software interface. We have done this such that you can plug them into either a SmartRF04, SmartRF06 or a TRXEB and can full functionality of SmartRF studio series tools.

  • Hi,

Thanks, I was not aware of the TrxEB. This looks perfect. Can I just confirm a few points?

In reference to the table at the above link for supported devices the CC1100 is not listed alongside the TrxEB. Is this board definitely compatible with the CC1100EM?

Is this related to the RxFifo/PLL/SPI read issues documented in the errata supplied with the CC1100EM?

Am I correct in assuming that I could use CC1101 parts at 433MHz to communicate with the CC1100 boards if we got them.

    Best regards

    Andy
