CC1101 Bias resistor

Regarding the BIAS RESISTOR connected on pin 17 (see page 21 of http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc1101.pdf), according to the documentation the resistor is connected to ground without any decoupling capacitor.

We discovered that in our application this resistor and its PCB trace picks up some noise and “dirties” the spectrum, so we tried to place a 100 pF capacitor to ground and this seems to solve the issue.

Is there any problem to decouple this resistor?

Thank you in advance

  • Yes, it's very likely that the opamp circuit which the resistor is part of could get unstable.

  • Hi,

I have been wondering the same, if adding a small decoupling capacitor would benefit without causing any other problems. Its good to know that maybe its not such a good idea.

Otherwise have you considered eliminating the EMI by shielding well your radio ? You might want to try that first before adding any capacitors that may cause instabilities.
