Hi all,

Is there any guide for the H/W address assignment of SimpliciTI to avoid the conflict from a different company's SimpliciTI based product? If not, it is possible the SimpliciTI based devices have the same H/W address.

I am not sure if this problem makes sense. Shall it be a problem?

Simon,

for this, you would either need to program each device with different addresses, or program the device with to generate random address and do as described as follows:

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I know how to program the device address. My question is that if there is no centralized-assigned device address, it is possible to conflict with other (company) SimpliciTI device. How to avoid it? Shall this problem be considered? If not, why?

Simon,

no, unfortunately not. SimpliciTI is not a standard protocol, it is just a proprietary provided by TI for customer as an example.

There is a very little chance that different applications between customers will collide because of the following two main aspects:

- SimpliciTI supports 4 byte addressing: That is > 4 billion unique address (just like the IPv4).

- SimpliciTI supports configurable RF setting, so depending on your base frequency, two devices with same address but working on different frequency can't talk to each other.

Anyway,

to even make sure that this problem won't happen, another thing came to my mind:

- use security

- add some tag in your data payload. For example for every packet, the first and second byte shall be pre-determined value (e.g. 0xAA and 0x55, etc.).
