kind request put back .bxl footprint support for all TI ICs as before

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2553

Dear TI,

I like to bring to your notice a very important issue designers may face because of a recent change in your website. you have removed the .bxl pcb suport for all TI ICs which was previously available for all ICs.

whenever a .bxl file was available, we were able to convert it using Ultra Librarian and kick start all our deigns. Now that its not there, we have to keep on searching/making foot prints. this is so hard and sometimes is so inaccurate. yes, the .bxl files were not the perfect ones available but they saved out time and money.

Please put back those files under the section "CAD/CAE symbols" of the page.

when I was randomly going through  ti.com, I was able to find one page which still have this support. this was previously available not only for reference designs, but also for single chips.

the new  footprint portal is not good at all. it dosnt have all ICs in it and we dont like to put a post in E2E and wait for 24 more hours (which is an extremely fast response I agree) and hold our design.

Please put back the support.

all responses so much appreciated.

  • Have you tried http://webench.ti.com/cad/, or is this the portal you are not happy with? We are only making the reference design zip files here in oslo, with the gerbers, pdf, cadence design files etc, we are not making the webpage nor control the entire content and layout of these pages. So I have little knowledge about the .bxl files and who makes these. But I have forwarded your request to the team responsible for our web pages, so that they might help with your request. sorry for not being of more help.

  • thanks for your reply. yes, I have visited the link. It has support for many ICs but they have removed certain footprints.

e.g. MSP430G2553 has only 2 types of footprints. It used to have more on the product page when .bxl support was available on the product page itself. I hope I am making sense.

    thank you for your time.

  • Hi Amalinda,

With the new layout of our product pages, the CAD/CAE symbols can be found on the Quality & packaging tab.  None have been removed, they are just in a new place.  Most of our devices do have the symbols & footprints but if you ever run across one that does not and you need it, please let us know.

Here is a link to the area where they can be found.

I hope this helps!  Sorry for the confusion.
