CC1101 Receiving problem.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101

Hi all

We’re using CC1101 and we have problem with the receiving range.

We did all the matching that needed to do and we can transmit up to 300 meter, but in the receive we barley reach 100 meter.

Can someone please advice what we need to do in order to receive from more distance.

[Some details: Antenna length = lambda/2 , from the end of the balun to the antenna we see 50 ohm ~ ]

Thanks a lot

  • When you manage to transmit 300 m, what do you use as receiver and the other way, when you say 100 m, what is your sender and receiver?

Which datarate, deviation, modulation do you use? Which frequency band?

It would be usefull to see a schematic, at least for the part from the RF_P/RF_N pins to the antenna.

Do you use a VNA to measure the impedance? Could you post a plot showing S11?

  • You need to test TX, RX and antenna performance separately before you set up an RF link.

TX: What is the conducted output power. Solder a semi-rigid coax cable to the board and disconnect the antenna. Measure using a spectrum analyzer

RX: What is the conducted sensitivity? Use an RF signal generator to do the measurement. See www.ti.com/lit/swra097 for ways to measure sensitivity

Antenna performance: Measure S11 and resonance frequency using a network analyzer.

Also, check the register settings. If you post the settings here we can do a review
