I am new to SimpliciTI. I have read through the online documents and the protocol.

What is the address space limitation to the total number of nodes in a star network using SimpliciTI?

What is the largest number of nodes that have been practically realized using SimpliciTI with the low power RF transceivers?

Hi Atul,

The address space limitation is 4 bytes, see
C:\Texas Instruments\SimpliciTI-IAR-1.1.0\Documents\SimpliciTI Specification.pdf

However, in simpliciTI this is extended by the conception of ports, so the real technical limitations can be formulated as something like:

The number of links to a specific device (with a specific SimpliciTI address) is in fact 30. But the number of distinct devices to which one can link is unlimited and constrained only by RAM.

In real life however this is very dependent on how your network looks, how much traffic there is etc. Would say 30-50 nodes, but have heard of 100+ node SimpliciTI networks.

Hi Kjetil,

Thanks so much for your response. Looks like there is no limitation due to SimpliciTI. So it really depends on how high the traffic is and how well the user handles the network issues in the MAC layer.
