Brand-new SmartRF TrxEB seems to have arrived dead :(

Hi all

I'm new to SmartRF and I just received two SmartRF TrxEB rev 1.7s in a CC1125EB pack from Newark.com. I plugged in the CC1125EM and the two AA batteries. I set S1 and S2 to "Enable" and "UART". The power jumpers are plugged into BATT and LCL. See attached photo.

When I switch on the power, NOTHING happens. No change to the LCD (even after waiting several minutes). No LEDs flash. Nada. Not even any smoke.

Pressing either of the reset buttons has no effect.

I did a little snooping and, with the power switch on, the voltage from any of the "Board Currents" jumpers to ground is about 3.27V; with the switch off, this falls to 0V. So, it seems to be getting juice - the batteries aren't dead. I tried new batteries (even though that didn't make sense, but it was worth a try...); no response.

I also tried swapping the power jumpers to USB and LCL and plugging it into my computer's USB port. I have a mac running win 7 in VirtualBox. Neither the Mac's nor the guest Windows sees anything on the USB that wasn't already there. Nothing came up on the LCD.

So it seems dead. The CC1125EB kit I got came with 2 boards and both are dead. So it must be something I'm doing wrong. But I've followed all the directions (as far as I can tell).

I'm new to this, but I think I've got the right forum and I did look at all the TrxEB posts and didn't see anything relevant. Please don't flame me - I'm just a newbie trying to get this to run.

Thanks for your time and patience.
