The recently announced CC1310 sub GHz wireless MCU looks to be a fantastic fit for long range IoT modules. It appears to fill what otherwise seems to be a significant TI gap for a sub GHz MCU / Transceiver with modern (i.e. ARM) processor, including sufficient flash/ram to support network stacks such as Contiki, plus enough headroom for code for sensor / actuator control. Great stuff. My question is, roughly when can we expect to see reference designs and samples available? Also for the indicated 1190 range extended combination?

We are sampling CC1310 now. Contact your local sales channels to ask if you can be added to the sampling list. We have CC1310 reference designs and evaluation modules available in addition to software and extensive documentation. Again, you need to go through local sales to get access to this information.

Thanks Sverre. Are there any other differences between these devices apart from the radio?
Also, does the CC1130 have wake on radio (couldn't see that mentioned in the spec)?

No differences except for radio front-end (LNA and PA) and PLL.

CC1310 can do WOR. We have no SW example showing this yet.

Hi Sverre, just to clarify please. Does the CC1310 incorporate an LNA/PA then? The +15 dBm output from the 2 page data sheet looks like it should.

I guess my response was not clear: the CC1310 includes both LNA and PA on-chip, but there is no (external) FEM to boost up the output power. The CC1310 can do +15 dBm without FEM.

Well I asked a similar question elsewhere. Mainly because I haven't been able to find a locally available substitute for the RF MosFET NE550434 specified.

So my understanding is that the CC1190 is compatible but TI don't have a reference design yet. Hopefully one will be produced shortly.

This should probably be spun off in it's own "CC1310 with range extender" thread, but would a CC1310/CC1350 interface with a CC1190 much in the same way a CC1200 would? Specifically, a Balun, the SAW filer and ESD shunt components between the CC1310 and CC1190? (as in CC1200->CC1190 ref design)

Yes,

either differential to single ended through a balun, SAW filter and CC1190 or possible single ended PA output, match, SAW filter CC1190 and CC1190 match CC1310 single ended LNA input.

A ESD diode is probably needed at the antenna but not between CC1310 and CC1190
