Is it appropriate to use CC1200 as multiple relay points?

The final destination point is about 20KM from the original starting point. Since the distance between these 2 points does not provide clear line-of-sight, I intent to place multiple CC1200s as relay points.

Is it possible to configure CC1200s to keep switching between Rx from unit 1 & Tx to unit 2. Basically relay stations? Are there any appnotes or examples on how to achieve this via a MCU?

Yes, it's possible. You have to first read the Rx FIFO and then write the Tx FIFO to send the data. Basically you need first a 'receive packet' and then a 'send packet'. Check the easylink software for details on how to do this: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Category:Sub-1GHz

I think my question was pertaining to the Addressing of each node (CC1200). Meaning:
Tx Device: 0xAA
Rx Device: 0xAF

Relay nodes:
Node 1 Address: 0xAB
Node 2 Address: 0xAC
Node 3 Address: 0xAD
Node 4 Address: 0xAE

So, from Tx Device to Node 1. Tx Device's Address in msg is 0xAB. Once Node 1 received data, it will forward that data over to Node 2 with address 0xAC.

Can these be done?

Yes, you just have to change the address field in the packet before writing it to the Tx FIFO. (given that you use the CC1200 built in address filtering.)
