how to send a message to the certain device

Hi

I want to use Ap to send messages to a certain device in a star network.

I do not know how to allocate the port number to the device. What i understand is that the different device will be defined with different linkid, we can define the different linkid in macro and then using SMPL_SendOpt ( ) to send the message to the certain device.  

Can anyone tell me am i right? Or someone give me some advice about it,
