CC110L - Raw samples mode

Not sure this is exactly what you are looking for, but the CC1101 and CC110L support Asynch data mode. Please have a look at section 27.1 of the datasheet.

You can use SmartRF Studio to enable this mode and try it directly on the TRXEB, follow the TRXEB user guide for pin assignments.

I've visited this doc/section before. If it supports raw samples mode, It's not clear for me from the text:
- how the data is organized (8/16 bits per sample)
- msb/lsb issues
- how the bits are released (each reading reads the next available bit? If no reading at all is issued - is the whole sample discarded & we move to the next one?!)
- do we read each bit via GDO GPIO?

A code example would help a lot

Ron: Do you want IQ samples or transparent data?

In the mode described in section 27.1 the data is asynchronous. Eq if the received deviation is larger than 0, the output is a logic one, if not logic 0. This is a transparent mode, eq the receiver doesn't have any knowledge about bytes or timing. The values on the output change when the values on the input (RF) change.

I need to gather/drive RAW samples from/to the RF device (Read ADC/Write DAC values).

I can arrange it in IQ format - if needed.

My question: is CC110L capable of providing this mode?

If not - which other RF unit can be used? Can it be put on a TrxEB?!

With CC110L it's not possible to get IQ data out (IQ data is the raw data coming from the ADC). This is possible to do with CC1120, see table 10 in the CC1120 UserGuide. No software example available for this.

Our < 1 GHz chips uses inloop modulation, eq we don't have a DAC in the TX path so it's not possible to write IQ data to the chip.

What is your usecase?

I need to control DIRECTLY Tx & Rx channels (I'm on both sides)

Need full control over these channels. I understand from your response that CC1120 enables this in Rx but not in Tx ?!

Is there any RF Unit (from the CCxxx family/other) that controls both?

What you are asking is pretty complex, but some years ago we worked with 4DSP to create such a product.

This evaluation board hooks into a FPGA board for your modem functions.

We do not support this product on this forum, however.
